Pinups and Pumps – Vintage Fashion and Stories of Strength

It was a beautiful evening at Terrace on Grand as survivors, donors, volunteers, and vintage models came together to support the efforts of Foundation4 Domestic Violence Prevention. Pinups and Pumps – Clothed in Confidence – had a fantastic turnout as guests were decked out in vintage inspired looks to enjoy an evening of food, drinks, and a fabulous fashion show.

To kick off the event in style, VIP guests enjoyed Happy Hour drinks on the rooftop deck as they were serenaded by the wildly talented Eboni Fondren. Raffle tickets were quickly bought for the amazing prizes and gift baskets made possible by generous donors in the KC community, while Lightup Booth captured everyone throughout the evening in their incredible vintage outfits!

As the show began, our 24 models quickly stole the spotlight as they graced the catwalk. But this was no average fashion show! The mission and purpose of this event became the focal point as 6 of our models, survivors of domestic violence, shared their stories of resilience with the audience. After every harrowing story, each woman would appear on the stage; a vision of strength and confidence as she made her way down the runway and stopping to strike a fierce pose!

The final survivor to share her story was our very own co-founder, Leslie Lust. Describing years of fear, abuse, hope and renewed happiness brought all attendees to their feet. All 6 survivors stood on stage and were honored by a standing ovation of support and admiration – the perfect end to the show. This moment was what Pinups and Pumps was always about; bringing together those passionate about a world with less violence and more love.

We cannot thank the attendees and supporters enough for their time and presence at Pinups and Pumps!
